  • As a class, modernize and act out the story of “The Little Red Hen” and discuss why it is important to share responsibility and the reward. Should the hen have shared the reward when she carried out the responsibility herself?
  • Ask students to make a list of their responsibilities at home, school, community, etc. What happens if they choose not to do these responsibilities? Have students talk to their parents about their responsibilities in home, community, and work. Do responsibilities change as we get older?
  • Write a story about how you are responsible at Taylor Prairie as class or whole group. “I am responsible.  I___________________.” Also could write responses on a dye-cut shape and create a poster.
  • Recognize students for showing responsibility in the classroom, recess, hallways, lunchroom, etc.
  • Write a top ten list “Ways to be responsible at Taylor Prairie,” a combined class list may be read at announcements on Friday (you never know J.
